Join the Dutch Lacrosse Team on their Journey to the World Box Lacrosse Championship in Utica, NY.

We are pleased to inform you about the upcoming trip of the Dutch lacrosse team to the United States for the World Box Lacrosse Championship, which will take place in Utica, NY, from September 20 to 29.

Our preliminary program focuses not only on athletic performance but also on cultural exchange and friendship.

Sunday, September 15: Visit to Akwesasne

Our journey begins on Sunday with a visit to Akwesasne, the Mohawk territory. Here, we will participate in a cultural exchange and play a match against the local team. This encounter offers us a unique opportunity to better understand the local culture and measure our athletic skills against a team with a deeply rooted lacrosse tradition. We will partake in the same ceremonies that took place 411 years ago, further connecting us to the historical roots of the sport.

Wednesday, September 18: Training and Match in Oneida

On Wednesday, we are invited to Onondaga, where we will train in their arena and play a match. Cultural exchange is also central here, and we look forward to learning more about the rich history and traditions of the Onondaga community. These encounters are of great value to us, as lacrosse originates from the indigenous peoples of North America.

Friday, September 20: Opening Ceremony and First Match

On Friday, September 20, the official opening ceremony of the World Championship will take place, followed by our first match against the host country, the United States. This promises to be an exciting and well-attended game, and we hope for a strong start to the tournament.

Tuesday, September 24: Match and Friendship Ceremony Oneida

On Tuesday, the women's match against Haudenosaunee will be played at the Mary C. Winder Community Center, and there will be a friendship ceremony between the two countries. This is a special opportunity to strengthen the bond between our communities.

This offers an excellent opportunity to strengthen ties with the Haudenosaunee and gain deeper insight into their rich history and traditions.
